Abstract
The article concerns the issue of using knowledge in a company’s
innovation process. Due to the symbolic nature of knowledge, it can be seen
as a common-pool resource, and as such used in an innovation process. Such
an attitude to knowledge as a resource implies changes in the nature of an
innovation process as such. The traditional – closed model of innovation
can be replaced by an ‘open innovation model’, where the enterprise can
use this resource, as well as complement it. This knowledge can be called
a “knowledge cloud” – a common pool resource used for innovation purposes.
This arrangement lowers innovation costs and shortens the duration of an
innovation process. The aim of the article is to prove the positive impact of
common knowledge on innovative drugs development.
